I guess its kind of vague when you name your blog the "Action Adventure Blog." I'm not sure I put a whole lot of thought into that part. But, I can say I put a lot of thought into what will be posted here. Its pretty simple....
- So this September, Danyelle and I will be competing at the United States Parachute Association's Nationals competition in the Freestyle Category. It's our first year to compete and we are still pretty green in terms of the competition so we've set a goal of, Judgeable Video! This blog will serve to capture that journey as well as any other skydiving adventures that come dancing along.
- Next Post. There is a lot of adventurous stuff I'd like to do but can't for whatever reason. So I'll be posting about that. Some of it will be about travel and some will be about sports - the action/adventurous kind. For example, I sure wish I could pull off a double back-flip on a motorcycle but we all know that will NEVER happen, however when Mr. Pastrana pulled it off a couple years ago I would have posted something about it. Or, if some guy decided to travel around the world on his bike attempting to break the world record and is currently crossing Texas, then I would probably take some time to follow it.
- The web is a massive place and I find it hard keeping up with all the stuff I like, and would like to do. If I come across some little adventure like traveling through the thick of Africa with a New Zealand guide whose parents sent him to a foreign land at 11 years old because he refused to eat anything but raw meat and to this day, may or may not be on America's Most Wanted list, BUT he is a totally rad dude who's best buds with every village chief across the entire land and could take you on the adventure of a life time...then I'll post about that too.
- And finally, I may post something that is adventurous in its own way but not necessarily in the cookie cutter mold of what might be labeled such.
Now, I'm thinking you may have already asked where 'Boolla' came from. Well, I really wanted to buy Bula, but it was already taken and I didn't feel any other connection to any other word that I would want as the domain for this blog.
Back in 2008 a few friends and I took off to Fiji for a 9 day sea kayaking adventure. Some of the individuals I'd known for years, another I'd just met a few months prior during a backpacking trip through the Grand Canyon, and the rest I was meeting for the first time. We were guided through tiny villages by a two man adventure company experiencing Fiji in the most pure sense. One of our travel mates decided the trip was so worth it he decided to do it again, except this time instead of 9 days, he opted for 365. He writes about it here and is working at one of the little resorts we camped at. Given that bit of background information, here in the U.S. we have tons of greetings, but in Fiji there is just one...Bula. It is a word I like, and its stuck with me everyday since coming back.
Happy readings.
